DeWalt adapter enables USB-C charging for tool batteries

DeWalt has introduced the DCB094K adapter, which enables two-way USB-C charging for its compatible 20V MAX and FLEXVOLT tool batteries. This adapter allows a tool battery to charge USB-C devices such as laptops or phones. Conversely, the same USB-C port can accept power from a wall supply to recharge the battery.

The kit includes the adapter, a 65W power supply, a 100W-rated USB cable, and a belt hook. The USB-C connection supports up to 100W in either direction, but the included power supply limits output to 65W. A USB-A port rated up to 12W is also available for charging other devices.

Users should verify that their laptop supports USB-C charging and that its power requirements match the adapter's capabilities. Indicator lights on the adapter show the battery's charging status but do not indicate device charging. The adapter should be removed from the battery when not in use to prevent drain.

Usage and availability

Priced at $108.95, the DCB094K is best suited for those who already own compatible DeWalt batteries. It offers an alternative to carrying separate USB power banks, especially when tool battery charging is needed. The adapter requires a Class 2 power supply, and the included cable and power supply are recommended for optimal performance.
